Manipulative's in Mathematics

Manipulative are important to use in the classroom when it comes to teaching mathematics. The following link will take you to a article that talks about the important reasons to implement manipulatives into the classroom.  It talks about different manipulatives that as a teacher you can use in your classroom and how you can implement them into lessons.  I will use as many manipulatives that I can into my classroom because I feel that it is important for students to learn from a hands on approach because it is easier for students to visualize what they are learning with 3d objects rather than just writing stuff down on a piece of paper.

Measurement Mathematics Video

This is a great video that discusses the difference in standard and metric measuring systems.

STEM Education

This video is a great video to introduce STEM education and how you can implement it into your classroom. STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics. I recently attended a Professional Development on STEM and I will say that it will be a great thing to implement into your classroom.

How to Implement Technology into your Classroom

Technology is an important aspect to implement into your classroom.  It gets kids engaged and they want to learn because it is something new to them.  There is all kinds of technology that you can use to enhance students learning.  The following link talks about 12 different ways that you can implement technology into the classroom.  It discuss different forms of technology and how you can use each one to implement it into different subject areas and make it fun for students to learn.  I will plan on using blogs in my classroom to communicate with parents so they know what is going on.  I will try to use a webquest to cover some different material for social studies so that it is student friendly.  I will hopefully be able to use a ipad in my classroom as well for a center rotation.

How To Use a Blog

Blogs are a great resource for teachers to use in the classroom.  It allows teachers to interact with parents and let them know what is going on in the classroom.  This is a big issue that parents have a problem with because they feel like they don't have a lot of knowledge of what their kids are doing while they are at school.  Blogs are a great way for teachers to communicate with parents so that you know they are getting the information without having to depend on the students to relay the information because sometimes students misplace the information or papers that they are supposed to take home and give to their parents.  I plan on using blogs in my classroom as a tool to keep my students parents up to date on what we are doing in my classroom so they feel like they are welcomed and no as just an outsider.  The following link is a video on how to use a blog step by step.  I would highly recommend taking some time to watch the video and try your best to implement blogs into your classroom.  It will make communicating with parents so much easier.
